National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Arizona State University, University of Osnabrück and University of Cambridge are coordinating a summer school program, a workshop and master classes on ancient and medieval languages and linguistics, to be held on July 23-29, 2023 on the island of Naxos (Cyclades, Greece).

The summer school will offer intensive language classes and linguistic classes on language change and variation in Ancient and Medieval Europe (with emphasis on Old and Middle English, Older Scots, Gothic, Old Romance and Ancient Greek). The aim is to attract students and scholars to study ancient and medieval languages in a relaxed yet very focused and stimulating atmosphere that promotes in depth analysis and discussion.

Aim

This website is devoted to the Greek & Ukrainian Academic collaboration. The project was initiated by Nikolaos Lavidas (National and Kapodistrian University of Athens), Olga Rychagivska (OPORA Center of the Ukrainian community of Athens), Zoia Kornieva (Faculty of Linguistics, Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute), Olga Demydenko (Faculty of Linguistics, Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute), Halyna Ilina (Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv & RECET, Vienna), Sophia Chionidi (National and Kapodistrian University of Athens).

Our aim is to provide a free and welcoming space, where you can find information about the Ukrainian language and culture, related academic work and seminars/lectures organised to provide substantial support to colleagues from Ukraine through the development of scientific cooperation.

We believe that such an initiative will highlight the solidarity of the University of Athens for colleagues who are being affected by the war in Europe.
